It is more than just salvation.
As we near the Easter season, some deem the sacrifice of Jesus Christ to only be about salvation and that through His blood that was shed, we were given eternal life. This is true, but there is so much more behind the blood that was shed over 2,000 years ago.
Jesus knew before the foundation of the world that He was going to have to go to the cross. Even then He was ready and willing to sacrifice His holy life for everyone. He knew that His precious blood was going to spill for the sake of mankind. I am happy that Jesus didn’t change His mind. We all can come into the fellowship of the Father because of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice.
We know from the Bible that the blood of Jesus brings forth royalty. Has anyone thought about how we can be called heirs to the throne, sons and daughters to the Most High? It is because of the blood. The blood that was shed and now flows through our veins when we get saved gives us all the birthright to be heirs to the throne. When we get saved Jesus’ royal bloodline begins to flow through our veins. This brings us into royalty. That is why we are called kings and queens. We become royal — what a wonderful phrase to think about. Does royalty have to worry about money? No, they have more money than we could probably spend in a lifetime. So, because of the blood we have been given access to the heavenly bank account. The problem for us is that we have not changed our thought life to match that of heaven’s. We can boldly come before the Father because we are His children so He will want to hear what we have to say or ask for. Just like a father, He will want to take care of His children. The only problem is are we asking for His help or rather are we being complacent with what is going on in our lives? We have the abundance of heaven at our grasp, but we are not asking for assistance.
The blood also brings us into covenant with Jesus. When we study the blood covenant it will open our eyes. This blood covenant also gives us royalty. Jesus shed His garments and put on ours, and we put on His garments and placed His royal crown upon our heads.
The blood gives us protection. Because of the covenant we can tell the enemy that we have the armies of heaven waiting to avenge us. This gives us the authority to go after the enemy and instill his defeat, and if he decides to revolt against us, he will have to fight the angelic army that will come to fight on our behalf.
There is healing in the blood. The blood of Jesus has healing in it. His blood is heavenly, and there is no disease or sickness in heaven. We have health in our own bloodstreams, but do we speak it into existence in our lives? Do we use the blood to declare our healing or just say we are sick because we live in a fallen world? There are certain people that realized and got revelation about the blood and the healing that comes with it. I love reading about John G. Lake, who walked around when the bubonic plague was strong in Africa. He didn’t wear any special gear, and yet he didn’t get sick. Why? He understood that because of the blood he didn’t have to get sick and rather he could heal the sick and watch them recover.
The blood brings purity. When we understand the blood, we will want to live a pure and holy life. We will not want to allow junk to get into our lives. We will want to live like Jesus and allow His blood to cleanse us constantly day to day. We shouldn’t be like the world but rather we should be separate from the world.
The blood brings the redemption of sins. It says in the Word that the blood makes us white as snow. When we ask Jesus into our lives, His blood flows and cleanses us of the junk from our pasts. When we sin, we can ask for forgiveness and we will be forgiven. The blood flows from the mercy seat to cover our sins. That doesn’t mean we go out and willingly sin. If we did that, we are abusing the grace and mercy God is giving us.
Finally, the blood breaks the chains of bondage. The blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross broke the chains of bondage of sin, addiction, and so much more. We must choose to allow the chains in our lives to be broken. When we do, we will walk as free men instead of slaves. Jesus came so we could walk free and not bound to the chains of slavery. Jesus paid a price for you and me. He paid our ransom by shedding His blood so we could be free.
I could go on and on. I just wanted to show you that there is more to the blood than salvation. So, this Easter, let us think just a little harder about the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus gave His life for.
When we take communion, let us think about the blood, and all that it has accomplished for us.
God is calling us to understand our authority, our birthright, and the blood. We are getting ready to move into a new season, where we are going to see more miracles, chains coming off, and salvations than we have seen in a long time. We must understand the blood and preach the blood. It is important now more than ever.
Blessings,
Eric
